Ozzy (Manokwari Male) X 50/50 Tigra (Carpondro Female)-2024

Breeding a Carpondro lineage has been a 7-year personal project that began when I acquired my 50/50 Carpondro from Selective Scales in 2018. Selective Scales first produced their 50/50 Carpondros in 2015, so it has taken an entire decade to create these fantastic 75% Green Tree Python/25% Carpet Python hybrids. It’s been a long journey, filled with many challenges along the way.

My first attempt to breed my female Carpondro in 2022 was unsuccessful, resulting in only one fertile egg out of eight good eggs, along with two slugs. Cutting open the egg on day 53, it was already too late, and the neonate had already passed inside the egg. I repeated the same pairing in 2023 with better results. Her 2023 clutch consisted of 18 eggs, 12 of which were fertile. Just 48 days after they were laid, two eggs started pipping. Out of the 12 healthy, developed eggs, seven hatched successfully, one hatchling had only one eye, three others had mutations, and one was stillborn.
